3. Road
Measured from Ashford, Kent (because attendees might come from anywhere in the UK)
A famous cloud computing service suggests the Channel Tunnel followed by (France) A26/E17 through Calais, Reims, Troys and Dijon, then (Switzerland) route 5 through Yverdon-les-Bains. Approximate total 9.5h.
Neither country permits radar detectors (neither possession nor use). By the time of travel, France is likely to require a breathalyser, expected to be about £2 from English ports.
