Activities
We'll have a stand, it's going to look like this, and the .Org Pavillion is laid out like this.
Find out Layout/Tables-required from Brian Teeman
Things we have done at our stand in previous years, to help plan what stuff would be useful to bring:
- Chat to the punters about Free software and why Debian rocks.
Sell stuff, then give them free-beer (see: stuff to buy first)
- Show off lots of weird (and not so weird) hardware running Debian.
- Boast about being the biggest GNU/Linux distro to show up(!)
See the [http://www.debian.org/events/checklist Debian.Org checklist].
TODO
Things _you_ need TODO
101Events spam, er, free ticket list: [http://www.linuxexpo.co.uk/Exhibition/Visiting/Registration/]
LPI exams at 10.00ukp each: [https://www.lpi.org/en/register.html]
- Bring your Passport and some GPG fingerprints
- Find somewhere to stay: (see below)
Things "somebody" needs TODO
Need to arrange with John Winters (may also UKLinux t/a DebianShop?) to get:
- Metric bucket-load of Binary i386 single CD sets
- Stack of Knoppix (or Morphix?) i386 CD's
- Smaller stack of i386 DVD's
Debian T-Shirts (the Phil Hands Classick, in off-white cotton ?)
- Buy free-beer, to give away if they buy a CD (also non-alcholic ones too)
- Get 200 CDR blanks for other Archs + Sources
- Paper "download the source here" stickers/labels for the CD's
Possibilites:
- Flyers bragging about Debian
Matching Black Debian polo-shirts for everyone (see: [http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/4/31465.html El Reg] a la Debian)
- Canvas Banner that can be rolled up and re-used for other shows (Maggie said they'd sponsor one?)
Things _me_ (Paul Sladen) needs TODO
- Pickup the large Debian sign from Scott in Birmingham
Pickup the smaller signs from UKLinux in stockport and Debianise them
Miscellaneous Question
How to get exhibitors' passen?
Whose mobile to ring when we get stuck?
Times and correct system for getting in to do Tuesday setup?
Car-passes and parking arrangements? (Getting in is impossible otherwise)
Accommodation
It's London, it's all expensive. Here's a vox-pop:
- Paul Sladen suggests: find some floorspace, it's cheaper.
Paul Cupis suggests: [http://www.hoteloholic.co.uk/index1.asp?area=Earls%20Court]
Paul Cupis suggests: Travel Lodge ( <80.00ukp/night)
- Phil Hands suggests: Paragon (225.00ukp/night, "Earls Court Show discount?")
Steve McIntype suggests: Kings Cross Thistle ("early breakfast")
- Dafydd Harries suggests: Holland House Youth Hostel (39.00ukp/night in 2000)
