Differences between revisions 51 and 77 (spanning 26 versions)

1. Debian packaging of xfce4

This is probably really dull for anyone except SimonHuggins and to an extent DanielSilverstone.

2. Plan for 4.2

There are currently verified Debian packages which are mostly correct of 4.2 RC1 (aka 4.1.99.1) on http://people.debian.org/~madkiss/4.1.99.1/ and http://the.earth.li/~huggie/xfce4/

Use at your own risk.

The plan as I see it is to upload these to experimental and point people at them. Then we can put them in unstable after sarge releases. It's possible we'll release sarge with 4.2 but very unlikely unless sarge doesn't freeze until January ish I guess given current upstream release plans.

xfce4-goodies are a mess and need sorting out. See the [http://alioth.debian.org/projects/pkg-xfce/ pkg-xfce project on alioth] for work on those.

3. Build Order

Bugs for ITA are 224558,59,60,61,62,65,66,67,68,69 and (merged with) 245114,15,16,17,18,21,22,23,24,26.

Mail sent to Rudy Godoy and the bugs asking about these. No movement since April.

Rudy's made packages but we need to get these uploaded. I'll start my delicate persuasion again I think :)

Need to fix:

 * Hurd bits
  * well PATH_MAX depends on upstream now and they say they've fixed it.
  * The gtkhtml issue has a patch which looks fine.
  * The segfaulting occurs on Linux too.  Sent upstream for now.
 * The make everything use sensible-browser and other such debianisms in the xfce4rc and the menu bugs.
